Watermaster Dredger Technical Guide for Sediment Removal

The Watermaster dredger is a hydraulically driven machine used for excavating and pumping sediments from water bodies. This equipment category includes several models distinguished by engine power, pump size, and track width. The base model Watermaster dredger operates with a 250 kW diesel engine driving a variable displacement piston pump. The pump delivers flow of 400 liters per minute at 250 bar to the working hydraulics.

The cutting mechanism on a Watermaster dredger consists of a cutter head mounted on a ladder frame. The cutter head rotates at 50 to 120 rpm depending on sediment type. For soft sludge, lower speeds prevent excessive wear. For compacted clay or gravel, higher speeds increase production. The cutter ladder lowers to a maximum depth of 5 meters below water surface. Shallow water operation is possible at 0.5 meters depth when the machine floats.

Pumping performance of the Watermaster dredger uses a centrifugal slurry pump with a wear resistant chrome alloy impeller. Pump impeller diameters range from 350 mm to 500 mm. The pump generates a head of 35 meters at optimal efficiency. Solids handling capacity allows particles up to 50 mm diameter to pass through the pump without blocking. The suction inlet is protected by a trash rack that prevents large debris entry.

Production data from field tests show a Watermaster dredger removes 150 cubic meters per hour of sandy material with 15 percent silt content. The same machine removes 90 cubic meters per hour of clay with 40 percent water content. Dredging accuracy is within 50 mm of target depth using the depth display system. Slope cutting capability allows the Watermaster dredger to create side slopes of 1 to 3 ratios.

The undercarriage of a Watermaster dredger uses steel track chains with bolt on pads. Pad width is 600 mm for soft ground and 400 mm for firmer terrain. Ground pressure ranges from 0.22 to 0.35 kg per square centimeter. The track frames are welded steel boxes filled with foam for buoyancy assistance. Each track is driven by a hydraulic motor with planetary gearbox providing 120 kN of drawbar pull.

ITECH Co.,Ltd. offers the Watermaster dredger with two control modes. Manual mode gives the operator direct control of swing, crowd, and hoist motions. Automatic mode maintains constant pump speed and cutter torque regardless of load changes. The automatic mode reduces fuel consumption by 12 percent according to site measurements at a port deepening project in Southeast Asia.

The Watermaster dredger includes a 2500 liter fuel tank giving 80 hours of operation at full load. Hydraulic oil reservoir capacity is 600 liters. Cooling is provided by a radiator with electric fan controlled by oil temperature sensors. Operating temperature range is minus 15 degrees Celsius to plus 45 degrees Celsius. Cold start assistance includes engine block heater and hydraulic oil preheater.

Safety features on the Watermaster dredger include emergency stop buttons at ground level and inside the cabin. The machine has a tilt alarm that activates when the chassis inclination exceeds 12 degrees. A float switch in the engine compartment shuts down the engine if water ingress occurs. The operator cabin is certified for roll over protection and falling object protection according to ISO 3471 and ISO 3449 standards.

The Watermaster dredger meets CE marking requirements for machinery safety. Documentation includes a risk assessment, operating manual, and parts catalog. ITECH Co.,Ltd. provides commissioning services including operator training for 5 days at the customer site. Training covers daily inspection routines, emergency procedures, and basic troubleshooting of hydraulic circuits.

Transport dimensions for the Watermaster dredger are length 9.2 meters with boom folded, width 3.0 meters, height 3.2 meters. Weight without options is 18 metric tons. Disassembly for transport requires removing the boom cylinder and lowering the cabin roof. Four persons can complete disassembly in 6 hours using a mobile crane.

Comparing the Watermaster dredger to other amphibious equipment, its main advantage is the integrated pump and cutter system. Competitive machines often use separate excavators with trailing suction hoses, which have lower pumping efficiency. The Watermaster dredger achieves a solid pumping efficiency of 75 percent of the slurry by volume. This efficiency reduces the number of passes required to clear a channel.

In conclusion, the Watermaster dredger delivers documented sediment removal rates across different soil types. Its design prioritizes pump performance and track mobility for shallow water work. With proper maintenance, the machine provides reliable operation for thousands of hours in freshwater and brackish conditions.
