What is a cutter suction dredger?
The principle of a cutter suction dredger are: loosening the soil by a rotating cutter head, sucking it up by dredging pump through flexible rubber hose, transport the material sand through pipleline, the final destination is either disposal site or a hopper barge.
The purpose of cutter suction dredging is to increase the depth of navigation channels and ensure the safe passage of vessles, and dredging can used used for sand / soil vacumming out of river, land reclamation in lakes and sea. The powerful cutter head are used for where the seabed material is hard, like rock, stone, mudium sand, coral etc.

The process of cutter suction dredger works is while operating, a spud will be lowered in the seabed, in order to secure the vessel and kept into a same location, because the cutter suction dredger is the staionary dredger. The dredger swings sideways by hydarulic swing winches, the ladder and cutter head of the dredger lifting up and lower down by hydraulic ladder winch. The rotating cutter head cuts the soil, mixture the solid with water, suction pipe and rubber hose are pressured by the sand dredge pump, and the the sand slurry is pumped out through a pipe line.
Cutter suction dredger CSD650 is standarded with suction depth of 18 meters, with large capacity of 6000 cubic meters per hour, 20% sand production in average, transfer distance 3 kilometers. CSD is the short name of cutter suction dredger, 650 is the diameter of dredger discharge pipe inner diameter, -18 is the suction depth of 18 meters.
Comparing with CSD650 -25m, the cutter suction dredger 650 -18 only requires one dredge pump, which is installed in board, a submerged dredge pump on the ladder is not in necessary. A powerful cutter head can be customized according to different working environment, with suction inner diameter of 700 mm.
